Safety protocols for Homecoming: Steps for preparing
We’re looking forward to welcoming our alumni and guests back to campus October 22- 24 for Homecoming and hosting celebratory events for the entire campus community – with safety in mind.
Please remember: For Homecoming to be the joyous success we all want it to be, we need everyone’s cooperation in keeping themselves and everyone else safe. To encourage this, the University will employ an extensive layer of protection for campus residents and all guests during Homecoming Week.
We wanted to provide more information on the protocols required of students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests for attendance at all Homecoming events. Please review the information below about the steps you must take to prepare for your participation and to promote a safe environment on campus.
BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL
SUBMIT YOUR PROOF OF VACCINATION OR A NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST RESULT
To enter campus and to participate in events, everyone will be required to provide proof of vaccination OR a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result completed 5-7 days prior to entry. There are no exceptions.
BY OCTOBER 15: SUBMIT YOUR PROOF OF VACCINATION
If you are vaccinated, you may visit the registration portal at https://www.desu.edu/student-life/campus-health-services/coronavirus/covid-test-result-upload to upload a digital copy of your COVID-19 vaccination card. If you have uploaded by or before October 15, your name will be placed on the cleared list, which will help to facilitate quick entry onto campus.
Note: Children under the age of 12 will not be required to provide vaccination documentation but will be required to provide a negative PCR COVID-19 test result to enter campus. Rapid test results will not be accepted.
5-7 DAYS PRIOR TO ENTRY: SUBMIT YOUR NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST RESULT
If you are NOT vaccinated, you are required to produce a negative PCRCOVID-19 test result. Test results MUST be submitted 5-7 days prior to entry at https://www.desu.edu/student-life/campus-health-services/coronavirus/covid-test-result-upload. Rapid test results will not be accepted.
Once your test results are on record, you will be placed on the cleared list.
Note: Vehicles with multiple occupants will only be allowed to enter campus if ALL occupants in the vehicle have been pre-cleared; if not, the vehicle will have to use the lines set aside for clearing people who are submitting documents on the same day.
Please note: If you have not registered for Homecoming and provided your documentation ahead of time, you may still do so at your initial entry onto campus. It is important to realize that this will significantly slow down your initial entry onto campus, as we will be prioritizing entry for those who did pre-register.
Employees who already have their vaccine and testing records on file at the University do not need to submit information via the links above.
DSU students are subject to a separate screening process which is being managed by the Office of Student Affairs.
ONCE ON CAMPUS
Once on campus, masks will be required for everyone at all indoor events. For outdoor events, anyone unvaccinated will be required to wear a mask except when actively eating or drinking.
Social distancing will be encouraged at all times and required for certain events.
Thank you for your partnership in helping to keep our campus community safe.We look forward to seeing you on campus for Homecoming 2021!
